Update - Where have I been for the last few months

For those who've been following me, you will notice that I have been very inactive on social media since Christmas which is a shame because I was establishing a nice following with my videos on the Lutterloh pattern making system.

As you will read, I haven't been sitting idle life has been so hectic, you cannot imagine! Here's a quick update of what I've been doing.

Back in November when we made the decision to sell our home of 22 years it was all action stations to start downsizing from our five bedroom home to a two bedroom bungalow that my Mum owned.

The bungalow had been a rental property for the last 5 years. So when the previous tenants left, it was a perfect opportunity to give it a refresh and also give us somewhere to live before finding our forever home.

Boxing up our lives, making our current home clean and presentable for viewings and renovating the bungalow meant every minute of the day was busy working towards our master plan of leaving our period home to live somewhere that was a little easier to manage..

We spent most days at the bungalow but we couldn't just strip wallpaper and paint walls like most people would. we had to jump all in and widen doors paint all the woodwork, remove clean and paint radiators, install new sinks, toilets, replace carpets and even laid laminate floors. John was already an established at DIYer but I found decorating skills that I didn't know I had!

In the evenings we would get home from a long day at the bungalow and have to start again, tidying our home ready for viewings at the weekend.

We had our first offer within a matter of weeks but the new buyer's chain collapsed quite suddenly so we put our house back on the market. Viewings over Christmas were quiet but in January we received another offer from a couple which we accepted.

They were really keen to move in before the end of March so renovations at the bungalow had to stop and we switched to moving out as quickly as we could.

Rather than hire a removal firm that normally move contents in the same day, we decided to hire a van and move ourselves gradually over a couple of weeks. Although added to that, in April we also had to help move both our daughter and her boyfriend and our eldest son and his fiancé into their new homes, so getting a van to cater for everyone seemed a sensible decision.

Of course the new homes the kids bought all needed decorating so we switched to helping them decorate as well.

Remarkably everything worked out fine. We managed to give help where it was needed, get everyone into their new homes, get the bungalow to a point where we could move in and hand over the keys to the new owners.

It was a little sad to leave the house that we brought up our three children and put so much work into but the sadness was short lived when we found our forever home!

This house is not a 250 years old like the previous one. It's brand new in a village 3 miles outside of our local town.

It has a stunning opening plan kitchen, dining and living space with views looking out over fields and a separate living room for cosy evenings. The four double bedrooms are probably more than we need but I will be turning one of them into a sewing room as soon as I can.

Considering Covid and Lockdown has caused so much disruption, sadness and limitations across the globe I am so grateful that we have been able to achieve so much whilst this has been going on. And hopefully as things begin to settle down and we get the keys to our new home you will be able to follow the next chapter and I will be able to resume my videos and share my content once again.

Thanks for reading
