I'm Back Sewing my Mother of the Groom Dress

For all the fun and frolics over the last 10 months I did manage to pull it out of the bag and make a dress to wear to my son's wedding and I'm glad to say I felt a million dollars!

My Initial Idea

Using pattern numbers 211 & 212 from the Lutterloh 2017 supplements,

I made a sample dress

when I was happy with the sample, I cut out the pattern

Sewing the dress with a tulle overlay was tricky because at times I wanted the tulle to be sewn with the lining fabric and then at other times I wanted the tulle to be draped over the dress

This meant I had to sew the zip in before draping the tulle over the shoulders.

I also had to cut the skirt panels free hand because I wanted the flowers seen at the foot of the tulle to match all around the hem of the dress

What a absolutely amazing day

I was the proudest Mum ever

And here's me wearing the dress at another wedding 2 weeks later
